World Reindeer Herders Congress
The 4th World Reindeer Herders’ Congress was held in Guovdageaidnu, Norway. More than 300 reindeer herders from the circumpolar regional were gathered in Guovdageaidnu, which is the largest Sámi reindeer herding area in Norway. The Congress was a unique cultural and professional event and here are some pictures from the Congress and reindeer siida.

Opening Ceremony of the 19th Saami Conference in Rovaniemi
The 19th Saami Conference is now opened and more than 500 Saamis from four countries are gathered in Rovaniemi to discuss the status of Saami Cultural Heritage. President of Saami Council, Pauliina Feodoroff, told during the opening ceremony, that it is important to discuss the status of our cultural heritage. Famous Saami artist Mari Boine opened the 19th Saami Conference.

Great events at Riddu Riđđu
Riddu Riđđu Indigenous Festival in Gaivuotna, Northern Norway is one of the most important festivals for Indigenous Peoples. Nearly 3000 people visited Gaivuotna, little seasami village, above the Arctic Circle. "It is just incredible to be here and see how they manage year after year, to find the best dancers, singers and actress` to Riddu Riđđu". The "knutepunkt status" (junction) gives more economic stability. Now the Norwegian Ministry of Culture and Church Affairs will yearly give 1,5 million Norwegian kroner to Riddu Riđđu. Indigenous Peoples from Taiwan, Mongolia, Greenland, Nenents Okrug in Russia, USA, Canada, Sapmi and West Africa gave the guests marvellous experiences.

It was crowded at Riddu Riddus Indigenous festival when worldfamous artist Angelique Kidjo entered the Riddu Riđđu stage in Gaivuotna.
Opening of Riddu Riddu Indigenous Festival
The famous indigenous musicfestival Riddu Riđđu was opened Thursday evening in Gaivuotna and this is a little seasami village in Northernpart of Troms. More than 600 people came to the opening. Norwegian Minister of Culture and Church Affairs Trond Giske had a surpricing announcement that Riddu Riddu is now part of "Knutpunktstatus" and it means that Norwegian Ministry of Culture will support this festival yearly with 1.5 million Norwegian kroner.
